New Braunfels burger bucket list: 5 places to try in 2019


From fast food to fine dining, New Braunfels is filled with many restaurant options featuring cuisine from around the world. When a burger craving hits, check out these five local favorites based on feedback from our Facebook page. Listings are in order of which establishment received the most votes.

1. Freiheit Country Store

In addition to a classic atmosphere that takes customers back in time, the restaurant crafts its burgers from local sources. They are served on buns from Naegelins Bakery and contain meat from Granzin’s Meat Market. Try the Sloppy Burger that comes smothered in homemade chili, lettuce and tomato or the Zweibel Cheeseburger that is topped with an onion ring. 2. Tin Top Burgers and Beer

This restaurant came onto the local burger scene in 2018 and is located in the same building as Rhea’s Ice Cream at 283 S. Union Ave, New Braunfels. It offers a unique selection of burgers, including the The Swineapple that features grilled pineapple, grilled jalapeno, bacon, Swiss cheese and citrus avocado sauce. Pictured is the Blood Mary Burger, which is topped with Swiss cheese, bacon, pickles, onion rings and a Bloody Mary sauce. 3. Muck & Fuss Craft Beer and Burgers

Located in the heart of New Braunfels’ historic downtown at 295 E. San Antonio St., Muck & Fuss Craft Beer and Burgers offers a creative, chef-inspired menu including a breakfast burger that has a hash brown patty topped with Cajun dill bernaise sauce, bacon, American cheese, tomato and a fried egg. Pictured is the Aloha Burger, which contains grilled pineapple relish, honey chili sauce, red cabbage slaw and sweet and spicy mayo. 4. Iron Horse Grill

In addition to tasty burgers, those who visit the Iron Horse can enjoy live music, a backyard patio and a kid-friendly atmosphere with a playground. 5. Pavlock’s Café and Catering

Pavlock’s is located inside the McKenna Events Center at 801 W. San Antonio St., New Braunfels. The popular Pavlock’s cheeseburger comes with lettuce, tomato, onions and pickles and is served on a grilled bun with roasted garlic mayo.
